About the Teacher

I am in my ninth year of education, previously teaching for six years at R.A. Hubbard High School where I coached baseball, basketball, and football while also serving as athletic director five of those years. I have a B.S. in Social Science from Athens State, certified to also teach General Science, and currently working on my M.A. in history at UNA. I am happily married to my wife Monica and we have two children; Allison is a social worker and Ryan is a NCO in the USAF as a F-15E Strike Eagle crew chief. We have two wonderful grandchildren, Jackson and June Neal. I must not leave out the small zoo we have at our house; two dogs (Sansa and Freya and four cats (Sasha, Ruger, Tempest, and Maverick).

I love anything related to military and aviation/aerospace history. Several years ago I had the honor of having a paper published, about the early years of the U.S. space program, in the North Alabama Historical review (Link to published paper). Besides learning about and teaching history, I also love being outdoors as much as possible. For the 2022-23 school year, I will be teaching U.S. History 201/202 (dual enrollment), 11th grade U.S. History II, and also an assistant coach on the baseball team.
